Lynda Cole's work is frequently inspired by what she sees in nature - color combinations, patterns, textures; also by man-made environments, materials and things. She looks at something she's attracted to and wonders how it would work in different materials. And the piece proceeds from there... In her exhibit Stillness in Motion, several pieces of which are included here, Lynda Cole works with encaustic wax on double layers of screen to draw still pictures with the wax while allowing the Moire patterns in the screen to make the motion. Like life - one looks for the still moments in the business of living. With silver leaf on mylar Lynda Cole presents patterns and ideas that have been with us through history and are still present today in our search for moments of quiet and focus in our busy lives. |
