Gallery talk by watercolorist Jennifer Thompson about her inspiration and her process

Washington Street Gallery is pleased to present this exhibition as an examination of the many approaches being taken by artists using the latest digital technology and the effect it is having on contemporary printmakingThe exhibition will open on August 2 and run through September 11, 2005 with an opening reception on August 5 and a round table panel discussion on Sunday, August 21st at 2 pm.

The impact of this technology on the printmaking field has transformed the way some artists are thinking and creating their images. These innovative tools and techniques allow for the combination of traditional processes and computer output often with surprising and creative results. Washington Street Gallery hopes this exhibit will inspire investigation and understanding of the myriad possibilities available.

The five artists whose work will be represented in this show, Barbara Brown, Michelle A. Hegyi, Lynda Cole, Alvey Jones and Martha Rock Keller, have embraced the computer and the technologies it has brought as wonderful new tools in the making of their art.  As painters, photographers, collage and book artists they have adopted and adapted these new techniques in differing ways and with different results.  Join the artists at their round table discussion on Sunday, August 21 at 2 pm.

Also during August, on Friday evening, August 19, watercolorist Jennifer Thompson of Ypsilanti, new to the Visiting Artists' Program at the gallery, will give a gallery talk, Rolling Without Wheels and Flying Without Feathers
