Drawings and Paintings

August 7 - September 22, 2007

Opening Reception:

Friday, August 10, 7-9 pm

This show features the latest work by WSG member artist, Nora Venturelli.

Drawing and painting is Ms. Venturelli's passion, and her preference is always to work from direct observation. When she works on a piece it is the essence of the landscape that she tries to capture. The marks on a drawing or painting show the path of analysis and structure, and as the piece develops, the viewer can follow her tracks on the surfaces created. Her compositions are carefully thought out and she places emphasis on the interplay between object and ground, between line and mass.

Nora Venturelli is on the faculty of both Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan, and she is known for her stunning Michigan landscapes.
