In
a feast of creativity the Washington Street Gallery is repeating its
2004 hit exhibition, 12 + 12, in which each of the gallery's
artist-owners invites another artist to show with them in this summer's (12 + 12) x 2. The exhibition will run
from June 27 through August 6 with an opening reception on Friday evening,
July 7, from 7 to 9

Sobel, of Menlo Park, California, invited guest of gallery artist Michelle A. Hegyi, continues to delight with her whimsical 3D pieces constructed from such found objects as screen and sheet metal. "The
media I use is always changing and suggested by some impulse of transformation
and development..... Guided by play, I travel on a path towards a spark
and hope to create in others the feeling of delight

Associate Professor of Painting at Eastern Michigan University, Margaret Davis, invited guest of gallery artist Kate Roesch, is currently represented by the River Gallery in Chelsea, Michigan. She has previously exhibited with Louis Marinaro in a two-person exhibition at the 20 North Gallery in Toledo, Ohio as well as in the "69th National Midyear Exhibition" at the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio. |
Professor Marinaro's sculptures have been shown in exhibits throughout the Midwest and in New York. He has been a Professor at the University of Michigan, School of Art and Design since 1982. He is the invited guest of gallery artist Norma Penchansky-Glasser. |
Beili Liu, invited guest of gallery artist Lynda Cole, creates a rapt mixture of the colorful and the colorless that she connects with the sometimes fragile materials she uses and translates into the symbolic tensions that constitute the framework of her art.

Working in clay, Monica Wilson, invited guest of gallery artist Jennifer Thompson, creates monumental appearing sculptural pieces with wonderfully textured and glazed surfaces. |
Ann Arbor artist Mary Morgan, invited guest of gallery artist Alvey Jones, works in mixed media assemblage and collage, creating subtle yet provocative explorations of her past and present-day world. Earning her MA degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, she has lived and taught in China and served in the Peace Corps in Africa. |
Creating large fiber works that have been included in a spectrum of exhibitions and publications, Professor Smith, of the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, continues to explore nature and the universe in her current collection Lunacy. Sherri smith is the invited guest of gallery artist Jean Lau. |
Having taught Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the College of Creative Studies in Detroit and been a Continuing Education Instructor at Eastern Michigan University until 1995, Karen Gallup is now finding delight in using her skills in the creation of beautifully crafted but whimsical sculptures of handmade and found objects. Karen Gallup is the invited guest of gallery artist Barbara Brown. |
