From May 13 through June 22, WSG Gallery will be hosting the work of three German artists, Gudrun von Funck, Thomas Nolden and Susanne Höefler from Ann Arbor’s sister city Tübingen, Germany. The planning for this exhibition began in early 2007 in conjunction with the Friends of the City Partnership Tübingen-Ann Arbor Committee. WSG was contacted by UM School of Art and Design Professor Michael Rodemer, a member ot the Friends’ committee, to see if the gallery would be able to host German artists in Ann Arbor in exchange for a July 2009 visit of Ann Arbor artists to Tübingen. The gallery readily agreed and arrangements were made with the help of German-American Institute Tübingen Director Dr. Ute Bechdolf. The three artists are part of a group of about 28 Tübingen citizens travelling to Ann Arbor, including Tübingen Mayor Boris Palmer and Dr. Bechdolf.

This show will be running concurrently with Gatherings featuring work by WSG’s member artist Marilyn Prucka.

All are invited to the opening reception to meet and welcome the artists, with a brief talk by Mayor Boris Palmer, to be held at WSG Gallery on May 14th from 7-9 pm.

Dizzy Krisch, also a Tübingener and a jazz vibraphonist, will play music at the opening.
