Bodycombe This shy quiet artist, painting her small, muted geometric abstractions in watercolor and gouache, has become almost a cult figure in Ann Arbor over the past several decades; her work admired and collected but seldom shown. Ms. Bodycombe’s paintings, shown previously in the gallery during the "12 + 12" show, will be part of the gallery through March, 2005. Marcia Polenberg-Ramsay Working in clay, Ms. Polenberg-Ramsay’s striking vessels and figurative pieces burst with slashes of color, breaking the barrier between painting and ceramics. Currently teaching at both the University of Michigan Flint and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Ms. Polenberg-Ramsay's often larger-than-life-sized pieces are hand built in segments, then fired and reassembled by the artist. Sharon Donovan Ms. Donovan combines precious metals with woven beads in her intricate and unique jewelry. New to the gallery and the "Visiting Artists" program, this Ann Arbor artist began showing and selling her earrings, pins, bracelets and necklaces to a growing group of faithful clients on Sunday’s at the Farmer's Market eleven years ago. Her work has gained such recognition that it is currently featured in "500 Beaded Objects" just published by Lark Books. Sharon became the first of the visiting artists to present a talk and book signing at the gallery on November 20th this year. Baron Glassworks A stable of professional and amateur glassblowers working under the guidance of Annette Baron, owner of Baron Glassworks, will bring a juried selection of hot glass to the Washington Street Gallery for the Holiday season. Their works will change monthly and be available through April of 2005. Susan Morosky The most recent of the visiting artists to join the gallery is Susan Morosky. Richly colored and textured paintings by this Highland, Michigan artist will be warmly received by her collectors and followers in the Ann Arbor area through April, 2005. |
