October 17 - November 19, 2006

Opening Reception:

Friday, October 20, 7 - 9 pm

In addition to the work of all twelve WSG gallery artists, the exhibit New Directions/New Connections: WSG will also feature the work of the following six visiting artists:

Maggie Citrin's acrylic paintings and stoneware reflect the striking simple forms found in nature. She is currently living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Nancy Feldkamp from Manchester, Michigan comes from a farming background and her work embraces itself in her landscapes. Her current series explores the use of watercolor on a plastic surface called Yupo. This combination gives her paintings a transparent and light dappled surface.

For Ann Arborite Susan Morosky, action takes place on the surface of her paintings. Layers are continually reformulated by adding and removing paint. She sees this as her approach to visual discovery.

Marilyn Prucka from Monroe, Michigan has spent many years experimenting in the world of art. Her work has moved from printmaking to painting and finally to quilted pieces in which she has developed unusual techniques by using resists with bleach and dye, including indigo.

Pamela Morris Thomford from Perrysburg, Ohio creates exquisite works of jewelry and metal sculpture. For her, storytelling is a vehicle for creating visual pieces. Each of her works is intended to "transcend generation, race, and religion; all are intended to remind us of our similarities -- our common and shared humanity."

Matt Shlian, a recent Ann Arborite, is a manipulator of paper, an inventor, explorer and a full-time paper engineer. His work includes folding 3D paper sculpture.

Sunday at 2 Series continues with a
