The Washington Street Gallery is pleased to present a Digital Art Night on Friday, October 12th, at 7 pm. Come hear three artists talk about how they incorporate this new medium into their work. Gallery artists Leslie Sobel, Lynda Cole and Michelle Hegyi will discuss and demonstrate their distinctive styles and approaches in using the computer to make art. These three are among the founding members of a local digital artists collective the Art Alchemists (www.artalchemists.com). They will explain their various methods, use of software and some of the results they achieve. Whether you are interested in using a computer to make art or in buying digital art, come to learn more about how it's made from start to finish. All three artists will demonstrate how they work from idea to print. The process from start to finish can include painting directly on the computer using natural media painting software such as Painter, or by scanning photos, sketches, slides, objects or even video footage to manipulate further using software such as Adobe Photoshop. The final result can then be printed onto archival papers using archival inks to produce long-lasting original fine art prints. These can be further enhanced with paint, collage and other traditional mediums. This event is free and open to the public.
