Talk by Visiting Artist Pat Truzzi

Sunday, September 20, 2 pm

Pat Truzzi's Artist Statement:

"I have always loved drawing figures, faces, and animals, and I've long been fascinated by the relationships between people and animals. My paintings are comments on the human condition most often using our relationships with animals as metaphors for feelings, fears and desires. The element of mystery appeals to me, and I hope to invite viewers to enter into the game by pushing the boundaries of objective reality to examine the nature of universal emotions.

My painting process begins with images from my imagination. I use a variety of media such as transparent watercolor, gouache, watercolor pencil, charcoal, and anything else I think will help make a successful painting. The fluidity and character of transparent watercolor is a joy to work with, but I also like to work with opaque water media on a gesso coated surface. This surface adds animation and allows me the freedom to change and explore while a work is in progress."
