WSG Gallery now has several movie stars !!

Several of WSG gallery artists and their work will be featured in Hollywood movies filmed locally.

This past summer, WSG gallery artist Adrienne Kaplan worked with actor Aidan Quinn for the upcoming movie Flipped, directed by Rob Reiner, coaching Mr. Quinn on the set on painting techniques of the 1960's, the period of the movie. Ms. Kaplan worked on 3 paintings in progress that weren't used, and corrected a pre-painted piece Aidan was supposed to be working on in one of the scenes. She was hired to paint a major piece for the movie, which unfortunately was not used. The style concept turned out to be 1920-40's American narrative landscape painting. Alot of material from her studio was used to decorate the set, including 3 paintings and several drawings.

Two of WSG gallery artist's Nora Venturelli's watercolors, and one of WSG gallery artist's Alvey Jones' prints was used for an upcoming movie starring Sigourney Weaver.

Ann Arbor Art Walk
Friday, October 9, 5-10 pm and
Saturday, October 10 12-5 pm

WSG Gallery is the Artwalk party host for the downtown area -- get your Artwalk map here.

What happens when an imaginative group of galleries, exhibition spaces, visual artists and craftspeople get together? Ten years of great shows, individual effort and lively artistic interchange go by in a flash. Since 1999 members of this group have been inviting visitors to get to know them where they live, work, study, and show.

The excitement of the visual arts in the Ann Arbor area is the diversity of art that is here to be discovered. From prestigious international showings at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, to national shows and experimental student and faculty work at the University of Michigan and Washtenaw Community College. Galleries are packed with a wide range of work full of local flavor - from fun and funky to pastoral landscapes to the contemporary edge. For the real inside scoop, the Art Walk Guide lists artists' studios where you can meet artists right in their work space and make a personal connection with some of the best artists and craftspeople working today. You can get your own copy at WSG Gallery, or visit annarborartwalk.com.
