The last time I updated this ‘About’ page was July 25, 2021. In that commentary I said, “At least for now things are opening up.” Since the occasion of that comment, Omicron came along and times have been difficult but it looks like we’re at a point where we can again say, “At least for now things are opening up.”
My studio life has been busy as I have been preparing for my ‘Featured Artist’ show (titled ‘Silver’) in WSG Gallery. It will be on exhibit from March 16 - April 23, 2022.
Silver leaf is one of my often used materials. I used it on 7000 pieces of 3” square DuraLar in a hanging sculpture named ‘Rain’. This won 3rd prize in 2011 Art Prize (YouTube link to Rain). Currently, I’m using silver leaf as an undercoat. I adhere the silver leaf to rag paper and paint thinly over with oil paint and wax. The silver leaf shows through directly or very subtly.
Our 20 year old Ann Arbor gallery relocated from Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI to 111 E. Ann St, Ann Arbor, during the COVID-19 shutdown. We opened our doors on Ann St. in September 2022 after a bit of remodeling.
Come for a visit. We’re in the historic Kerrytown District with restaurants and other art galleries near by. We’ll be having our first in-gallery ‘Reception’ in our new space on April 1, 2022. There are many other things going on that Friday evening in Downtown and Kerrytown areas of Ann Arbor. In the meantime you may find my work on the WSG website here.
